The following frequently asked questions (FAQs) will help answer many of your questions about our tests and procedures.
Will I need a prescription from my doctor?
No. Aurora Life Sciences will provide one for you.
Alternatively we also accept scripts (lab orders) issued by your own doctor. Please fax the script or have your doctor fax to 815-713-1158. Your name, date of birth and your contact number must be included. We will call you to obtain payment method prior to issuing laboratory order.
Will my healthcare provider receive a copy of my results?
If you order the tests direct from us we respect your privacy and maintain confidentiality. You are the only one who receives the results unless you specify otherwise in writing. Fax your request to 815-713-1158
If the order is received from your doctor, results will be provided to your doctor.
Can I use my insurance?
No. All laboratory testing must be privately paid for at the time of purchase. We accept credit/debit cards and checks. We do not bill Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance companies.
Due to high deductibles many of our customers find that their medical insurance did not cover the total cost of tests. In most cases our cash price is less than the patient responsibility portion noted in their explanation of benefits (EOB)
What should I do if I can’t find the test I’m looking for?
If there is a test you are interested in but cannot find on the website, please call us at (815) 713-1829 and we will be happy to discuss the availability of the test.
Should I fast before taking the test?
It depends on the test. If fasting is required for your test, it will be noted on the product page. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids starting at least 24 hours before blood draw so that you are well-hydrated for optimal blood draw regardless if fasting is required.
How do I get blood drawn for the tests that I ordered?
1. Standard blood tests
Take the lab requisition to any Quest Diagnostic Draw Center. All centers accept walk-ins or you can make an appointment. To make an appointment click on the blue link,select ‘Routine Lab Tests” and select your time. Quest Diagnostics will accept your lab order and will not charge you any fees. Any drawing fee costs will have already been included in your lab purchase.
2. Specialty test collection kit
Specialty tests require a sample collection kit which is provided to you upon receipt of your order. The collection kit includes all of the necessary blood draw tubes, instructions, lab order and a prepaid shipping label. Please note that Quest Diagnostics will not accept any specialty test kits.
Specialty Test Blood Draw Locations:
– Any Lab Test Now is a national blood draw service with locations in many cities. They accept and process specialty test collection kits for a service fee. This fee is not included in your test order from us and must be paid at time of the blood draw service.
– Contact your county health departments as most offer phlebotomy services and can collect and prepare the blood sample for shipment. A service fee may be charged, but the fee is typically less then national draw service chains.
– Take the specialty collection kit to your health care provider. Please note that most of the samples will need to be centrifuged prior to shipment, verify that the clinic can draw, process, and pack the specimen for you.
3. Local Rockford, Ill area residents
Our Rockford, Illinois headquarters has an onsite blood draw center. Call 815-713-1829 to make an appointment.
When will I receive the results?
Typically results are available within 7 days after your blood is drawn. The results will be emailed to the address provided at time of checkout.
How long do I have before my test order expires?
Lab order forms can be used for 90 days after placing order.
Can I cancel my order?
After an order has been placed, you may cancel order prior to issuance of the lab requisition by calling 815-713-1829 without penalty. The refund will be equal to the price of the test less a $25 cancellation fee, if cancelled after issuance of lab requisition. There are no refunds issued after 90 days.
